Breaking: AU appoints Nigerian Ajijola into Cybersecurity Expert Group – ITREALMS

The African Union (AU) has appointed a Nigerian Cyber security guru, Alhaji Abdul-Hakeem Ajijola (AhA), into its Cyber Security Expert Group (AUCSEG), ITREALMS can authoritatively confirmed.

AUCSEG, 
ITREALMS gathered, is a committee that will advise the African Union Commission (AUC) in matters related to cyber security, cybercrime, cyber-legislations, online privacy and data protection as well as digital policy related issues.ITREALMS  also gathered that AUCSEG would be inaugurated on Tuesday, 10 December 2019 in Addis Ababa.

ITREALMS recollects that Ajijola is a global cybersecurity resource, who is ranked #13 in the IFSEC Global Cybersecurity professionals’ influencers and thought leaders list.

He is concurrently a Commissioner, Global Commission on the Stability of Cyberspace (GCSC); Chair, Working Group on Cyber Incident Management and Critical Information Protection of the Global Forum on Cyber Expertise (GFCE).


Ajijola equally serving as a member, Group of Experts for the Nigerian Senate Committee on Cybersecurity and ICT and Chair, Subcommittee on the review of the Cyber-Crime Act 2015.

A founding member of Organisation of Islamic Cooperation – Computer Emergency Response Team (OIC-CERT), Ajijola is the Executive Chairman, Consultancy Support Services (CS2) Ltd based in Abuja.

Nigerian Ajijola named Commissioner for global cyberspace stability

The Executive Chairman of Abuja-based cyber security and Information Communication Technology (ICT) consultancy firm, the Consultancy Support Services (CSS) Limited, Alhaji Abdul-Hakeem Ajijola has been named a commissioner of the Global Commission on the Stability of Cyberspace (GCSC), reports ITRealms.
 
A public statement from GCSC headquarters in The Hague, The Netherlands, its Chairman, Marina Kaljurand on the official Facebook page of the Commission, said they were happy to present Abdul-Hakeem Ajijola, as one of its own.

He recalled that who was a former Senior Special Assistant Innovation & Technology to the National Security Adviser to the President of Nigeria, is a founding & Steering Committee member of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation – Computer Emergency Response Team (OIC-CERT); mentor to the African forum of Computer Incident Response Reams (AfricaCERT), instigator of the Office of the National Security Adviser Nigeria Computer Emergency Response Team (NGCERT); implemented the National Information Technology Development Agency Nigerian Computer Emergency Readiness & Response ecosystem (CERRT.ng); & member of the Nigerian Cybercrime Working Group.

Reacting to his appointment, Ajijola said he was honoured, excited and grateful to the Almighty, to have been appointed as a Commissioner of the The Hague-based Global Commission on the Stability of Cyberspace (GCSC).

Also Ajijola considered the appointment as a collective opportunity to voice “our perspectives and concerns as well as positively impact Global Cybersecurity thinking.” Just as he looks forward to evolving mechanisms that will ensure that collective perspectives are channeled appropriately.

ITRealms gathered that GCSC aims at promoting mutual awareness and understanding among the various cyberspace communities working on issues related to international cybersecurity by contributing to an essential global task, supporting policy and norms coherence related to the security and stability in and of cyberspace.
