Asthma, the most common chronic disease among children worldwide, has emerged as a silent health crisis in Nigeria, affecting an estimated 13 million people, reports ITREALMS.
The country ranks among those with the highest asthma prevalence in Africa, yet awareness and access to treatment remain critically low, according to the Total Health Trust Limited, during a recent commemoration of World Asthma Day on May 6, 2025.

The climate change crisis has worsened with droughts across the Horn of Africa, with up to 13 million people in Ethiopia, Kenya and Somalia likely facing severe hunger, reports ITREALMS.
Sources at ActionAid’s emergency teams, informed ITREALMS that with millions of people still recovering from the devastating drought that hit the region in 2017, a large-scale response is urgently needed to avert a catastrophic food and malnutrition crisis.
