The announcement followed a high-level project management tour and workshop at the Nigerian Content Tower (NCT), featuring executives from South Africa’s Edison Corporation (incorporating Radisson Hotels Group) and the project contractor, Megastar Technical and Construction Company.

Engr. Ogbe described the five-star facility as a "top priority" infrastructure project designed to transform Bayelsa State into a premier destination for business and tourism.

“This project is critical to the Board and the nation,” Engr. Ogbe stated. “With this hotel becoming functional by year-end, I believe we will see a surge in tourism and investment in Bayelsa. Since assuming this role in late 2024, I have made it a personal mission to ensure this vision becomes a reality.”

The Executive Secretary confirmed that major project hurdles—including financing, contracting strategies, and scope of work—have been resolved, ensuring construction proceeds unhampered.

Mr. Vivian Reddy, CEO of Edison Corporation, expressed immense confidence in the partnership, noting that the inclusion of the Radisson brand provides a "seal of global approval" for the region.

“Radisson Hotel and Conference Centre, Yenagoa, will put this location on the world map,” Reddy said. “The moment a traveler anywhere in the world searches for Radisson, Yenagoa will pop up. This visibility is a catalyst for regional economic upliftment.”

Reddy, a veteran of Nigeria-South Africa business relations since 1999, noted that securing the Radisson brand involved over 18 months of rigorous documentation and vetting—a process he claims reflects the brand's confidence in the NCDMB’s leadership.

According to Dr. Obinna Ezeobi, General Manager of Corporate Communications at NCDMB, the facility is designed to meet rigorous five-star standards. Beyond luxury lodging, the center is envisioned as:

A Strategic Hub: Hosting international energy conferences and investor engagements.

Economic Catalyst: Generating direct and indirect employment in the Niger Delta.

Infrastructure Milestone: Enhancing the "Local Content" value chain by providing world-class meeting spaces within the oil-producing heartland.

The project team, including Brian Sibusiso Mpono and Govindasami Monogren of Radisson International, continues to collaborate with Megastar Technical to ensure the facility meets global architectural and hospitality benchmarks.
