Lagos SAT takes campaign to Eti-Osa East chairman – ITREALMS

The Lagos State Advocacy Team (SAT) has taken campaign to the office of the Executive Chairman, Eti-Osa East Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. John Campos Ogundare, reports

They also called for scaling up in addressing facilities and personnel challenges identified at the Addo and Araromi Primary Healthcare Centres (PHCs) for appropriate actions.

Speaking during the visit, the Lead, Lagos State Advocacy Team (SAT) Mrs. Bunmi Tejumola reiterated ATM's strategy to gather information on gaps at the health centres and the need to escalate such to the appropriate authority in order to strengthen health care facilities in the wards that the organisation are designated.

Tejumola also identified some issues raised at Addo PHC to include lack of pipe borne water, no night security personnel except day guard, insufficient chairs at the OPD while the second gate is detached from the pillar.

Equally speaking, the Coordinator, NEPHWAN, Mr. Patrick Akpan outlined some issues at Araromi PHCs to include inadequate chairs, and non-functional old generating set.

In addition, Mr Akpan complained that the public toilet at the Eti-Osa East PHC which was initially promised before movement to the new ward is yet to be fixed.

Responding on behalf of the Chairman, the Supervisory Councilor for Health at Eti-Osa East LCDA, Hon. Kabiru Sulaimon promised to relay the issues raised to the LCDA Chairman for prompt actions, assuring that by the next visit, a huge difference will be made based on their recommendations, while those within his office will be expedient action upon, immediately regarding to the availability of chairs, door at the PHCs.

"The issues of chairs, toilet door will be fixed this week, while in two months there will be facilities upgrade at the PHCs within Eti-Osa," he declared.

Also, Hon. Sulaimon, applauded the visiting team so far which have yielded some results in supporting the healthcare centres in the environ.



ITREALMS gathered that some of the issues resolved by the SAT team at Badore PHC were provision of Ambulance, benches at Badore OPD, payment of PHCN outstanding bills and reconnections of electricity, provision of day and night security personnel.

Further, 
ITREALMS recalled that the advocacy visits were part of the Post-COVID-19 resilience project by the National Agency for the Control of AIDS (NACA) towards combating HIV-AIDS,TB and Malaria in some five LGAs of Lagos State, including Alimosho, Eti-Osa, Somolu, Ikorodu and Mushin.

The SAT team to Eti-Osa East LCDA also included the Coordinator,TB Network, Mrs Ifelunwa Aipoh, ATM Project Officer, Ms Tope James, Mr. Ibukun Oderinde among others.
