The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Hakeem Odumosu, has ordered the immediate release of 35 people arrested Saturday at the #OccupyLekkiTollGate protest once they met the bail conditions, reports ITREALMS.

This is coming as a member of the #EndSARS Judicial Panel and human rights activist, Mr. Ebun Olu Adegboruwa has threatened to resign if harrassments and dehumanisation of peaceful protesters continues on #OccupyLekkiTollGate.

CP Odumosu, ITREALMS gathered from TVCNews monitored in Lagos, has directed the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) at the Area J Police Command Elemoro, Ibeju Lekki area of the state to release the protesters with immediate effect once requisite conditions were met.

Also, ITREALMS gathered that operatives of the Police Command arrested over 35 peaceful protesters against the re-opening of the Lekki Toll Gate, as at the time of filing this report.

In a related development, Chief Mike Ozekhome Chambers, earlier perfected bail conditions and some 40 protesters arrested were granted bail.

The protesters, TVCNews reported, were charged to a mobile court sitting at state criminal investigation department at Panti-Yaba in Lagos State.

Despite overwhelming condemnation of the arrest, they were charged for conspiracy, breach of public peace and flouting of covid-19 protocols.

Human rights activists and lawyers have been consistent with their condemnation of the arrest, detention and dehumanisation of peaceful protesters, including Senator Shehu Sani insisted, protest is fundamental human rights.

They also called on the security forces to restrain themselves and align with democratic processes.
