Governorship election: Tribunal declares Mama Taraba winner

Senator Aisha Jumai Alhassan known as Mama Taraba of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has been declared winner of the April 11 governorship election in her state, ITRealms reports.

Alhassan was pronounced winner of the election by the Taraba State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal sitting  in Abuja.

Senator Aisha Jumai Alhassan, a minister-designate, had gone to the tribunal to challenge the declaration of Senator Darius Ishaku of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as winner of the election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

She had sought the nullification of the result on the grounds that the ballot was flawed by irregularities.
