NIN database exceeds 51 million records, as FG extends NIN-SIM linkage by one month - ITREALMS

The Honourable Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami, chaired the meeting of the Ministerial Task Force on the NIN-SIM data linkage.  

The meeting was attended by key stakeholders, including the EVC/CEO of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), DG/CEO of the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), DG/CEO of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Representative of the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) and the Chairman of the Association of Licensed Telecommunications Operators of Nigeria (ALTON).  Others included the NCC Executive Commissioners Technical Services and Stakeholder Management, MD/CEOs of MTN, Airtel, EMTS (9Mobile), NTEL, Spectranet and SMILE, as well as the COO of Glo.

Taidob College cart away 4 prizes @FBN sponsored contest - ITREALMS

The Taidob College Abeokuta, winners of the 2019 National Company of the Year Competition (NCOY) organized by Junior Achievement Nigeria and sponsored by First Bank of Nigeria Limited on Friday 6 December 2019, represented Nigeria in Ghana at the 2019 African Company of the Year competition.

Taidob College left Ghana with four awards in the keenly contested competition, comprising representatives from 10 other Junior Achievement member countries in Africa, notably from the Kingdom of Eswatini (Swaziland), Ghana, Zambia, Gabon, Uganda, Zimbabwe, Mauritius, Botswana, Kenya and South Africa. Team Nigeria (represented by Taidob College) won the most awards of any other country present. The awards include; Client Focus Award, Entrepreneurial Spirit Award, Facilitator of the Year Award and was second runner up, Company of the Year Award.

The African stage of the Company of the Year competition is the sequel to the national event featuring 12 student companies who are zonal winners from across the country, including the eventual winner Taidob College Abeokuta. Terra Kulture, Lagos played host to the event on 3 October 2019.

Speaking on their performance, Folake Ani-Mumuney, Group Head, Marketing & Corporate Communications, First Bank of Nigeria Limited said “the youngsters from Taidob College have indeed made Nigeria and Nigerians proud. Winning four various awards is a recognition of the viability of the innovative solutions designed to save lives. The impact of their innovation – the Gas Leakage Detector – would go a very long way at solving the problem of fire outbreaks due to gas leakages in homes, offices, and industries. We congratulate Junior Achievement Nigeria on the strides achieved in Ghana”.

Last year, Inventive Explorers, from Caro Favored College Ajegunle, emerged the grand winners at the Africa Company of the Year competition in Ghana. Their rechargeable handheld LED traffic lights has solved a real problem in various congested communities and reduced traffic accidents, especially in areas with school children crossing busy streets. Over the years, FirstBank has been at the forefront of partnering with Junior Achievement Nigeria in Company of the year program and competition.

The National Company of the Year Competition (NCOY) is an annual flagship event by Junior Achievement Nigeria’s (JAN), which convenes the winners of the JA Company Program Regional Competitions across Nigeria together to compete for the National Company of the Year Award. The national winner then proceeds to represent Nigeria against other JA Africa member-nation companies.

Taidob College, others emerge winners @2019 FirstBank sponsored national competition – ITREALMS

The Taidob College Abeokuta, has emerged the 2019 winner of the National Company of the Year competition organized by Junior Achievement Nigeria and sponsored by First Bank of Nigeria Limited, reports ITREALMS.

With this, Taidob College would compete against student teams from 10 other Junior Achievement member countries across Africa.

The student team contestants comprise representative from the Kingdom of Eswatini (Swaziland), Ghana, Zambia, Gabon, Uganda, Zimbabwe, Mauritius, Botswana, Kenya and South Africa. The event is scheduled for Friday, 6 December 2019 at Alisa Hotel in Accra, Ghana.

The African stage of the National Company of the Year competition is a buildup and sequel to the national event hugely competed by 12 student companies from across the country, including the eventual winner Taidob College Abeokuta. Terra Kulture, Lagos played host to the event on 3 October 2019.

Etisalat's Willsher to keynote at the Commonwealth Broadband Africa Forum 2015



Etisalat Nigeria’s Chief Executive Officer, Matthew Willsher has confirmed participation at the forthcoming Commonwealth Broadband Africa Forum 2015, being sponsored by Etisalat Nigeria in Abuja, reports ITRealms.

The event scheduled to hold from June 16 to 17 at the Nicon Luxury Hotel Abuja, would see Mr. Willsher delivering a keynote address titled ‘The State of Broadband in 2015’.
 
ITRealms also gathered that a group of erudite discussants including Dr. Eugene Juwah, Executive Vice Chairman, Nigerian Communications Commission and Sonia Jorge, Executive Director, Alliance for Affordable Internet will join him to dissect his presentation which will be made on the first day of the forum. The discussions will be moderated by Professor Tim Unwin, Secretary-General, Commonwealth Telecommunications Organisation (CTO).
 
The forum, ITRealms gathered has the theme ‘Broadband for All: From Access to Inclusion’, would examine amongst other topics: National Broadband Plan; funding mechanics for promoting the deployment of Infrastructure, cross border connectivity and universal broadband for all.

Commenting on his company involvement, the Chief Executive Officer, Etisalat Nigeria, Matthew Willsher, said that the partnership with CTO is very crucial as broadband penetration is critical to the socioeconomic welfare of Nigerians.

“The Forum will converge industry stakeholders to discuss the future of Broadband technologies especially in Nigeria. The Forum will also create opportunities for stakeholders to examine policies around Broadband access and regulatory interventions needed to promote broadband, showcase cost effectiveness and efficient technologies,” he said.
