NCC orders telcos to immediately reactivate barred lines of NIN-SIM verification - ITREALMS

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC)
has ordered the reactivation of SIMs affected by National Identification Numbers (NINs), reports ITREALMS.
According to the Director Public Affairs at NCC Mr Reuben Muoka, noted that  over the weekend many telecom subscribers/consumers were unable to access their phone lines due to the inability of some telecom consumers to verify their NINs with their Subscriber Identification Modules (SIMs).

In keeping with enabling law of the Nigerian Communications Act (NCA) 2003, the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), has announced new numbering format for fixed lines to manage Nigeria's numbering resources, reports ITREALMS.

In the process, Nigeria’s Fixed-Lines Numbering Format has changed from eight digits to 10 digits by just adding "02" prefix before existing fixed number.

NIN-SIM policy: FG bars outgoing calls on unlinked lines - ITREALMS

The Federal Government (FG) has directed telecommunications operators in the country to bar outgoing calls on unlinked lines from April 4, 2022, reports 
ITREALMS.
According to the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami, the President, General Muhammadu Buhari, retired, has approved the implementation of the policy with effect from Monday, 4th of April, 2022.

NCC debunks allocation of 383m new lines - ITREALMS

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) would like to draw the attention of the general public to a news story in a national daily which wrongly interpreted an update report on National Numbering Plan, posted by the Commission on its official website.

Specifically, the report published by the media outfit with the headline: “NCC allocates 383 million new telephone numbers to operators," purported that the Commission allocated 383 million new telephone lines to telecoms service providers in the first quarter of 2021 alone.
