The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has refuted certain publications and social media reports containing misleading information regarding the operations of a regulated financial institution, reports ITREALMS.

The apex bank noted that its attention has been drawn to the misleading publication, and wishes to categorically reassure the public, depositors, and stakeholders that the Nigerian banking sector remains resilient, safe, and sound.

Following claims in certain quarters about the stability of some Nigerian banks in the wake of Heritage Bank Plc's license revocation, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has again reassured members of the banking public of the safety of their deposits and the banking system's resilience.

Contrary to some claims, the Bank’s Acting Director of the Corporate Communications Department, Mrs Hakama Sidi Ali, on Monday, June 10, 2024, in Abuja, faulted claims that the CBN was considering revoking the operating licences of Fidelity, Polaris, Wema, and Unity Banks.
