PMB accepts victory, promises to strengthen unity, inclusiveness - ITREALMS

President Muhammadu Buhari has accepted victory of the Presidential election held on February 23, 2019, promising to strengthen the unity of the country and inclusiveness, reports ITREALMS.

Buhari in a statement made available to ITREALMS, urged his supporters to be maginamus in victory and avoid any atom of violence.

Excerpts from his statement read:

"My Dear Nigerians,

First and foremost, I give thanks to Almighty God Who has spared our lives to witness another victory for Nigerian democracy and victory for our party APC.

2. I thank the millions of Nigerians who voted to re-elect me as your president for the next four years. I am deeply humbled and profoundly grateful to you for judging me worthy of continuing to serve you and for your peaceful conduct.

3. In particular, I would like to thank Asiwaju Bola Tinubu for his masterful leadership as Co-chair of the Campaign Council. I would like to also thank the party chairman Adams Oshiomhole, the Director General of the Campaign Council Rotimi Amaechi, all members of the Presidential Campaign Council and other various Support Groups.

4. My grateful thanks to all those who contributed to the logistical expenses of the campaign in such a vast country like Nigeria.

5. I also thank the millions of volunteers, self-appointed overseers, canvassers, agents, escorts and sentries who sacrificed so much of their time and resources to ensure the success of these elections. I do not have the words adequate to thank them.

6. Although Saturday’s elections were relatively peaceful, troublemakers in a handful of states attempted to disrupt an otherwise orderly process. Security agencies will bring to justice all those arrested in the process.

7. I am very sad at the grievous loss of lives during these elections. Security agencies will step up their efforts to protect voters in the forthcoming State elections.

8. I would like to commend our security agencies, as severely overstretched as they are, for handling the difficult task of securing the country during the election period.

9. I will like to make a special appeal to my supporters not to gloat or humiliate the opposition. Victory is enough reward for your efforts.

10. We give thanks also to our domestic and international observers for contributing to the success of our elections and for their interest in our country and our developing democracy.

11. The new Administration will intensify its efforts in Security, Restructuring the Economy and Fighting Corruption. We have laid down the foundation and we are committed to seeing matters to the end. We will strive to strengthen our unity and inclusiveness so that no section or group will feel left behind or left out.

12. I thank you for your support and may God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria"

Embattled Ambode accepts BOS as APC candidate+video of address - ITREALMS

ITREALMS:
The embattled Lagos State governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode has surrendered to the Asiwaju Bola Tinubu's camp by accepting the outcome of the Tuesday primaries by the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Lagos, reports ITREALMS.

APC in Lagos, ITREALMS gathered, had earlier pronounced Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu (BOS) as the winner of the gubernatorial candidate for 2019 elections, with over 900 votes despite irregularities.

But Ambode in a U-Turn address in Lagos, Wednesday evening accept the result, citing supremacy of the interest of the state against any individual.

As said by Ambode in his address available to ITREALMS, "Fellow Lagosians, the last few days have witnessed intense political activities that have gripped the attention of the nation and created palpable tension in the polity. I strongly believe that the time has now come for the State to move forward in order that the gains of the last three and half years are not lost.

"Dear Lagosians, APC is a great party and the interests of our beloved State must always supercede that of any person or group. It is in this regard that I wholeheartedly congratulate the winner of the Lagos State APC Primaries, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu and urge all Lagosians to immediately support our party’s gubernatorial candidate in the 2019 elections and work for the success of our dear party.

"As Governor, I will do everything possible to ensure a smooth transition in the remaining period of this administration and ultimately to the new Governor, come May 2019.

"I therefore appeal to all our party members that we remain one family and unite behind the candidate of the party, so that we can continue to move this state forward.

"The progress of Lagos state is non-negotiable. It is a project that I have passionately worked for in the last three and half years as your Governor and one to which I will forever be devoted.

"I wish to use this opportunity to thank our national leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and the leadership of our great party at state and national levels, all party faithfuls and all Lagosians," he said.

Further, he specifically expressed thank to "all Lagosians for their faith and trust in me. I urge you not to relent in your support for our party as we prepare for the General Elections."
