ITREALMS ... making leadership SENSE with digital news!
A new milestone has been achieved by Mr. Ajagbe Adeyemi Teslim, Publisher of August24news.com, who was recently bestowed with the prestigious Media Personality of the Year Award by Go-Culture, reports ITREALMS.The ceremony, held at the historic Glover Memorial Hall, Custom Street, Tinubu, recognizes Ajagbe’s standardized transformation of the local media landscape as the first journalist on Lagos Island to establish a dedicated online news platform.
The maiden edition of the 2026 Celebrity Cup was designed as a coordinated framework to identify and celebrate individuals whose consistency and creativity drive positive impact within the Lagos Island community. According to Mr. Idris Iwalewa-Coker, CEO of Go-Culture, the initiative serves as a mechanical necessity to reshape the global perception of Lagos Island.
"We want to change the narrative," Iwalewa-Coker stated during the event. "Lagos Island is blessed with professionals who are excelling in their respective endeavors. We are celebrating the great minds who have reshaped the image of our community, countering negative perceptions with a showcase of excellence."
Ajagbe’s career represents a roadmap of professional evolution. Having started at the defunct Island News, he served as an entertainment reporter for P.M. News and handled the crime desk at the National Mirror Newspaper. In 2010, he launched August24news.com.
His impact transcends the newsroom into digital governance. Ajagbe holds the distinction of being the first online media personality officially recognized by a sitting council chairman in the region, having served meritoriously as the Special Assistant on Media and Digital Communications to the Executive Chairman of Lagos Island East LCDA, Hon. Muibi Alade Folawiyo.
Accepting the honor, Ajagbe, fondly known as Omoatitebi, reaffirmed his dedication to his community. "This recognition highlights the importance of our voice and the impact of our work," he told newsmen. "We remain committed to doing everything possible to move Lagos Island forward. This is our home and our root."
The category also featured other distinguished media practitioners, including Mogaji Ola Muhammad: Publisher of Islanders Magazine; Mrs. Tawakalitu Adeniran: Kalite Media, Mr. Jubril Gawat: Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Digital Media.
The high-profile event celebrated a wide spectrum of the creative economy, from content creators and filmmakers to fashion designers and event promoters, all contributing to the cultural and economic resilience of Lagos.
