The League of Anambra Professionals (LAP) has officially transitioned from promise to performance, marking a significant milestone for education within the state, reports ITREALMS.
In January 2026, the organization disbursed the first tranche of ₦400,000 to each of the 36 beneficiaries under the "Future Forward Scholarship" initiative.
This payment serves as the first practical step in a bold, long-term commitment to nurturing the next generation of Anambra’s leaders, building upon the scholarship's formal unveiling at an educational forum in Awka on December 5, 2025.
This initiative was born from a fundamental question posed by the LAP President, Sir Nnamdi Obi, who asked if the League could create a genuine support structure for indigent students in Anambra State.

Dr. Elizabeth Ifeyinwa Jibunoh, Chair of the LAP Education Committee, noted that this query became the driving force behind a life-changing intervention.
Out of over 300 qualified applicants, the League rigorously selected 12 students from each of the state's three senatorial zones, ensuring that the 2025/2026 academic session cohort reflects both geographic representation and academic excellence.

Each student, she said in a press statement available to ITREALMS received ₦1,000,000 per academic year, covering tuition, accommodation, and a monthly living stipend.
To ensure transparency and fiscal responsibility, the League has partnered with Fidelity Bank as its anchor bank. Every beneficiary has opened a dedicated account for these disbursements, which also creates an opportunity for the students to engage with financial literacy and responsible money management skills.

This aspect of the scholarship, LAP said, equips beneficiaries with vital life skills, leadership exposure, and internship opportunities, while connecting them with reputable professionals across diverse sectors.
The League’s objective is to raise globally competitive graduates who remain firmly grounded in the values of excellence and enterprise that define the state.
The League has issued an open invitation to corporate bodies, educational institutions, and well-meaning indigenes, both at home and in the diaspora, to partner with them in scaling this funding to increase the number of beneficiaries in the future.
