Computerize Nigeria to open 13 Arenas

Plans have been concluded for the opening of 13 branded Computerize Nigeria Project (CNP) Arenas, across the six geo-political zones of the country.

The project coordinators have to accomplish the task in next six months.
Chairman, CNP, Prof. Oye-Ibedapo Obe, who made these disclosures at a media parley in Lagos, Friday, said that arrangement has been advanced for the setting up of robust computer shops, two each in the six geo-political zones with additional one in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.

The CNP Arena is an all inclusive shop that settles any confrontation between the consumer and a wide range of Zinox Computers and other international brands.
Ibidapo-Obe said, that this new CNP strategy is to push further the frontiers of Information Technology (IT) penetration in the country.

He explained that the CNP Arena is an entirely new concept by which a wide range of IT products is brought within the reach of a greater number of Nigerians in the organizations efforts to promote digital knowledge democracy.

The CNP Arena, he equally said, would return the power of choice to the Nigerian IT consumer through a display of world-class IT products from the most credible Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) in the world.

Stressing that only world class computer products such as Zinox, HP, Toshiba and ACER would be on display at these Arena cum shops in various format including desktops, laptops, UPS, Software and Computer accessories would form the main focus of these shops.

Prof. Ibidapo-Obe noted that before now the CNP was marketing only Zinox brand of computers but recently decided to accommodate more brands on its stable, based on the need to give the consumer greater choice and stabilize prices in the market place.

Emphasizing that in spite of the new strategy and present disposition that only internationally certified brands would find a place on the shelves at the CNP Arena, just as he confirmed that Computerize Nigeria Project has entered into strong partnership with these manufacturers in order to deliver value at a highly reduced total cost of ownership to the Nigerian consumers.

He pointed out that CNP would sell products to individuals, co-operatives, educational institutions and other organized associations where prices could be an issue and has no mandate to neither participate in commercial bids nor supply corporate organisations.

“This is a strong condition to our partnership with these reputable OEMs and that is why the prices you will get in these shops shall be the lowest anywhere in West Africa,” he said.

The Chairman CNP observed that the Arenas would be a huge investment that could be rationalized by the value that the concept would add to the Nigerian economy.

“It would create more employment for Nigerians. It will also bring the potentials of IT nearer to the grassroots and generate alternative sources of livelihood - more people would be self employed,” he said.
