Odey leads delegates to Telecom Africa-08

Nigerian delegation to this year’s Telecom Africa organised by the global telecom regulator, the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) in collaboration with the government of Egypt, would be led by the Minister of Information and Communications, Chief John Odey and his Minister of State, Alhaji Ibrahim Dasuki Nakande.

Equally on track for the event billed to kick off on May 12, 2008 in Egypt, among other top government officials is the Chairman , Board of Commissioners at the Nigerian Communications Commission, Alhaji Ahmed Joda, the Executive Vice Chairman (EVC) NCC, Dr. Ernest Ndukwe, and chief executives of key public and private companies in Nigeria.

Champion Infotel gathered that leading players and international companies are equally expected to showcase their products and services at the exhibition part of the expo.

Sources close to NCC informed that Nigeria showed particular interest on this year’s edition and was chosen among the five nation’s with dedicated pavilion at the event.

According to our sources, the Nigerian pavilion will showcase avalanche of the nation’s efforts and success stories in telecoms development, and the support, which the sector has given to other sectors of the economy.

Additionally, the pavilion will provide an opportunity for Nigerian public institutions and private sector companies to demonstrate their strengths to the global attendees to the telecoms summit.

One of the Nigeria’s mobile phone operators, Celtel Nigeria Ltd, has confirmed its participation as an exhibitor to be located in the Nigerian pavilion.

Other Nigerian firms that have given indications of their preparations to exhibit at the nation’s pavilion include banks and ICT firms.

It was also gathered that global telecom equipment manufacturers billed to exhibit products at the event include Ericsson, Alcatel-Lucent, Nokia Siemens Networks, Arabsat, Etisalat, Huawei Technologies, Qualcomm, ZTE, Intelsat, Eutelsat among many other players from different parts of the world.
