HiiT offers scholarships to Lagosians

Information Technology (IT) education solution provider, Hands-on Institute of Information Technology (HiiT) has announced the offer of scholarships to excelling secondary school students in Lagos State.

Managing Director, HiiT Limited, Chief Kayode Shobajo, said the award of scholarships to secondary school students in Lagos is part of the institute’s efforts to contribute to the development of IT education in the country.

The scholarship, he said, offers students the opportunity to register for any course of their choice at HiiT.

“The gesture is part of activities lined up by HiiT to mark its 10 anniversary and is also to recognise and reward the students’ good performance in their last examination,” he said.

He explained that in HiiT, information technology training is taken above core subjects available in schools especially as most schools in the country, which are not well equipped to offer IT training needed to make Nigerian students of secondary school level to compete in the today’s digital society.

“This offer would help them improve their IT proficiency as well as expose them to the numerous potentials available in the digital world,” he said.

Chief Shobajo added that the goal of HiiT is to empower youths in the country with the best IT and professional business certification training through the use of up to date software and programmes at affordable prices.

He also said that plans have been advanced to extend the scholarships to tertiary institutions in order to keep track of kind of empowerment these youths get as they grow into university scholars.

Presently, he said, Ifako International Secondary School and Provident Height, both in Lagos are among the schools that have benefited from the scheme.
