We take Nigerian market very seriously – Lutgerink

Remmy Nweke just back from South Africa

SONY Ericsson may have concluded plans to take its place in the nation’s telecommunications market, just as the telco said it takes the Nigerian market very seriously.

This resolve, was disclosed by the Regional Director, Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications International for Southern Africa, Mr. Martijn Lutgerink in a chat with our correspondent at the just concluded Global System for Mobile communications (GSM-3G) Africa conference put together by Informa Telecom and Media at the Cape Town International Convention Centre South Africa.

“We’re taking Nigerian market very seriously” he declared, stressing that Sony Ericsson promise is that consumers would soon begin to enjoy the company’s presence in the country.

He also said that by first quarter of next year, Sony Ericsson would have taken its rightful place in the nation’s market by way of deploying human and capital resources to increase its presence locally in Nigeria.

Currently, he said, that the telco is deploying relevant resources in collaboration with its local partners to ensure visibility in various different ways.

“We’re very interested in developing our presence in Nigeria and this will make the difference in the near future,” Mr. Lutgerink asserted.

Emphasising that Sony Ericsson needs to expose its avalanche of products including its J100 mobile phones in Nigeria, basically because of its affordability.

Although, he noted that J100 for instance sells for about E35, about N5,950, even as the telco intends to build upon its Walkman series including W850, W300, W710 and better designed module of Z610, which he said, is third generation (3G) enabled. He said that Sony Ericsson series, stands the company out and very importantly they come with warrantees.
