Egbu Girls break ground for modern dormitory, warm-up for global reunion'25 - ITREALMS

The Egbu Girls Old Girls Association (EGOGA) has performed a groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of a modern dormitory at its alma mater. This initiative is part of the association's efforts to give back to the school and provide a better environment for students, reports ITREALMS.

The ceremony was conducted by the Rt. Rev. Bishop Geoffrey Okorafor, proprietor of the school, and witnessed by notable members of the association, including Lady Barrister Stella Amamasi, Hon. Justice Vicky Isiguzo, and Barr. Ethel Echebima, among others.
The first phase of the project, valued at over ₦300 million, aims to enhance security, accommodation, and the overall learning environment for students. According to the Global President, Mrs. Ijeoma Enekwa, "If our students can excel in international competitions despite dilapidated facilities, imagine what they can achieve with modern infrastructure."

The association has been actively involved in various initiatives, including a compendium project to raise funds for the dormitory, a survey of the dormitory compound, perimeter fencing, and renovations. 

The North American Chapter recently renovated a classroom block.

The 3rd Global Reunion of EGOGA is scheduled for December 18-21, with the theme "Mentorship for Girl Child Safety and Empowerment." 

The reunion will feature the Winifred Hubbard lectures, instituted in honor of the school's first principal.

A press statement available to ITREALMS by the EGOGA Global Public Relations Officer, Mrs. Ugonma Cokey, noted that some distinguished members of the Association include the first female stockbroker in Nigeria, Mrs Lizzy Ebi, the publisher of The Source Magazine, Dame Comfort Obi, the former first lady of Ondo State, H.E, Mrs Betty Anyanwu- Akeredolu, Hon. Justice Vicky Ishigugo among other notable figures from all works of life, both home and in the diaspora.
