Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing the Kogi Central Senatorial District, has spearheaded a significant empowerment initiative, successfully training and equipping 250 young constituents with crucial digital and technical skills, reports ITREALMS.
The comprehensive training equally covered a variety of in-demand areas as eighty beneficiaries received specialized training in Drone Security and Environmental Sustainability/Remediation Initiatives; a forward-looking skill set with wide-ranging applications.
ITREALMS also gathered that some 50 youths were trained in advanced welding and fabrication techniques, bolstering critical industrial capabilities, and another 50 beneficiaries focused on renewable energy installation, preparing them for the burgeoning green economy, while 70 constituents gained expertise in data analytics and digital transformation, essential skills for the modern digital landscape.
The training sessions, held at Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan's residence in Kogi Central, were meticulously designed to provide participants with readily employable skills and practical tools.
"Our people deserve to be empowered with the very best of technology for self-reliance," Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan stated during the event, underscoring the strategic nature of these human capacity development programs.

The Senator revealed that her decision to integrate drone technology into the curriculum was inspired by the successful adoption of drone innovations in countries like South Africa, Egypt, Malawi, and Ethiopia, where they drive industries such as mining, agriculture, and infrastructure monitoring.
"Drone technology is the new frontier of socio-economic development not only in Africa but globally," she explained.
She also said that by freely distributing 80 drones to individuals and learning institutions, the initiative sets a new standard for Nigeria in innovative capacity-building technologies.
Though drone technology is relatively new in Nigeria, Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan emphasized its substantial potential for both security and entrepreneurship, far beyond its traditional uses in photography and videography.
She highlighted its diverse applications, including construction, oil and gas, agriculture, delivery services, environmental monitoring, geographical mapping, and telecommunications.
As part of this initiative, the Geology and Environmental Science departments of 10 tertiary institutions nationwide were invited to benefit from the drone technology empowerment.
These institutions include Federal College of Education, Okene; Confluence University of Science and Technology, Osara; Prince Abubakar Audu University, Anyigba; Federal University, Lokoja; Federal Polytechnic, Idah; Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja; University of Ilorin; Bayero University, Kano; Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria; and Federal University of Science and Technology, Minna.
The aim, ITREALMS further gathered, is to equip these educational institutions with modern tools that will enhance student learning experiences and provide hands-on training in emerging technologies.
Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan also confirmed that the distributed DJI Neo drones, fully comply with Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority regulations, being sub-250g in weight.
This latest empowerment drive follows closely on the heels of other significant projects championed by Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan, as she recently, flagged off the construction of two smart markets in Kogi Central, boasting a combined capacity of 160 shops, and distributed 700 computers to students of Abdul-Azeez Attah Memorial College, Okene (AAAMCO).
The Senator reiterated her unwavering commitment to continually empower her constituents with modern technologies and innovation-driven opportunities, asserting that "they deserve the best."
