At the conclusion of month-long Afinni Job Ready programme, some 50 employers and recruiters attended the job fair at the Lagos Island II Constituency, reports ITREALMS.The event was part of a one-month employability and soft skills training program organized by Hon. Suleiman 'Lanre Afinni in collaboration with the Lagos State Employment Trust Fund (LSETF).
The training program, which drew over 200 job seekers initially, saw 161 participants complete the rigorous training, which included CV preparation, personal branding, and mock interviews. Hon. Afinni commended the participants' zeal and determination, encouraging them to stay focused as more job offers are in place for those not absorbed into the workforce.
Hon. Afinni also announced plans for further training on tech skills and an empowerment program for entrepreneurs, stating, "We have a company that believes in what we are doing, for further training on tech skills, especially for those who do not get a job today and are interested in boosting their career in the tech world."The Chairman of Afinni Youth, Wale Salawe, highlighted the importance of knowing the right approach to updating one's CV and facing employers. He assured participants of good job offers, urging them to seize the opportunity to secure employment.
The Special Adviser to the Governor on Transport, Sola Giwa, praised the initiative, saying it's a good one that connects people who need jobs with organizations looking to hire.
The Executive Secretary of LSETF, Feyisayo Alayande, represented by Oyindamola Egbeyemi, urged participants to keep growing and developing their skills, emphasizing that employment is a journey that requires consistent self-development.Participants, including Animashahun Yusuf and Bawa-Allah Monisola, praised the training program, saying it helped them upgrade their CVs, build confidence, and prepare for job interviews.
The event was attended by notable figures, including Engr. Mukhtaar Tijani, General Manager of Lagos State Water Corporation, and Babajide Damasio, APC chieftain.
