Konga partners Defence Hqtrs to launch discount scheme for military personnel - ITREALMS

Driven by corporate patriotism, Konga, a leading composite e-commerce platform and member of the Zinox Group, has partnered with the Defence Headquarters to launch the Defence Discount Scheme (DDS), reports ITREALMS.

Set to go live on October 1, 2026, the technology-enabled initiative is designed to enhance the welfare of serving and retired personnel of the Nigerian Armed Forces by providing exclusive discounts across a vast inventory, including Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG), smartphones, computing systems, home appliances, and automobiles.

The high-profile launch event in Abuja drew the nation's top military leadership, featuring the Chief of Defence Staff, General Olufemi Oluyede; Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Idi Abbas; Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke; and Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu. Also in attendance were senior executives from Konga and Zinox, including Onochie Eche-Chukwuma, Vice President of Commercial Planning at Konga; Kingsley Asonye, Head of Enterprise Solutions at Zinox Technologies; and Reginald Obiakor, General Manager of Business Development at Zinox Technologies, who represented Zinox Group Chairman, Leo Stan Ekeh.

Lending significant weight to the occasion, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, served as the Special Guest of Honour. In his keynote address, Akume praised the initiative as a vital contribution to the Federal Government's comprehensive welfare framework.

“This platform demonstrates how technology and strategic partnerships can be harnessed to deliver practical benefits to citizens who have dedicated themselves to the service and security of the nation,” Akume stated.

He further commended the Zinox Group for its decades-long impact on Nigeria's technological growth and digital economy.

Designed to ease financial pressures for military families, the platform has been directly integrated with the Defence Headquarters' verification and authentication systems to ensure that exclusive discounts remain exclusively accessible to eligible personnel. A live technical demonstration during the event walked leadership through the user-friendly process of navigating the platform.
