The Renaissance Africa Energy Company Limited and the delegation of the European Union (EU) to Nigeria and ECOWAS have formally committed to a strategic dialogue aimed at strengthening energy security, driving sustainability, and fostering industrialisation across the region, reports ITREALMS.

The commitment was the highlight of a meeting in Abuja on Tuesday, where Mr. Tony Attah, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Renaissance, met with Mr. Gautier Mignot, Ambassador and Head of the EU Delegation.
Mr. Attah outlined Renaissance's assertive vision to lead the energy security and industrialisation movement, starting from Nigeria and extending across the African continent.
Attah underscored the urgent need to resolve a glaring disparity: “There is the paradox of Africa holding over 6% of global resource endowment yet facing persistent energy poverty. Renaissance’s vision is to begin a movement to correct this. We intend to become Africa’s leading energy company, advancing energy security and industrialisation of Nigeria in a sustainable manner.”
He further stressed that adopting cleaner and more sustainable energy solutions is non-negotiable for Africa to become investment-competitive and achieve higher levels of economic development. Renaissance, according to Attah, is committed to delivering energy responsibly while continually improving the environmental performance of its oil and gas operations.
To ensure the success of this vision, Renaissance has prioritized putting in place a very strong corporate governance structure, building on its foundational credibility to drive visible performance and long-term delivery.
Attah also commended the Federal Government of Nigeria for crucial policy reforms, including recent executive orders, successful implementation of the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA), industry target-setting, and improved security strategies, all of which have contributed to stability and production growth in the sector.
The discussions extensively covered emissions management, where Renaissance highlighted its continuous monitoring and improvement initiatives. Under the Nigeria Gas Commercialisation Programme, the company has already achieved a significant reduction in gas flaring, maintaining operations within the internationally recognized 40-level threshold.
Ambassador Gautier Mignot shared insights into the EU’s ongoing initiatives in the country, including the Nigeria Jubilee Fellows Programme, and expressed significant openness to future collaboration with Renaissance.
Both organizations concluded the meeting by emphasizing the mutual importance of strengthening dialogue on energy security, sustainability, and strategic partnership to ensure a cleaner, more industrialized future for Africa.
