ISDE 2021: All is set, as 700 inductees expected in Uyo - ITREALMS

Over 700 inductees are expected to join the fold of the Nigeria Computer Society (NCS), the umbrella body of all Information Technology (IT) professionals, interest groups and stakeholders in the country, reports ITREALMS.

Currently, ITREALMS gathered that NCS prides itself with about 15,000 members, spread across all the states of the federation.
This is coming as the President, International Federation for Information Processing (IFIP), Prof. Mike Hinchey and Canada Research Chair in Persuasive Technology, Dalhousie University, Canada, Prof. Rita Orji, are billed to deliver key notes, among other dignitaries, at the Uyo event.

Confirming these to ITREALMS during a virtual press conference Tuesday, the President of NCS, Prof. Adesina Sodiya said they anticipate the number to edge close to 1000 and surpass some 800 inducted the previous year as they advance plans for the 2021 NCS International Conference slated to hold in Uyo, capital of Akwa-Ibom State.

The conference, he described as the biggest and most influential IT event in Nigeria would hold between Tuesday 3, and Thursday, 5 August, with the theme, “Innovative System for Digital Economy (ISDE 2021).”

Sodiya also said that the conference would focus on important issues related to the theme and sub themes such as “Technopreneur ship: Powering Creativity, Regulation and Digital Consumer privacy, Inclusive vs. Disruptive Innovation, IoT and Robotics on customer Behaviour, Globalization and its effect on a digital economy, Digital Economy: Governance, Policy and Regulatory framework, Cyber Intelligence for National Security, Broadband: Citizen and Digital Access Rights, Digital Technologies in Agriculture, Redefining Healthcare in Digital Economy, Education: Beyond the Wall, Agenda for Digital Gender, Energy efficiency (end user energy demand), Behavioural research (Human response to digital integration).

Other subthemes, he revealed to include “Cloud and Edge computing, Data, information, and knowledge (New frontiers for Data production, capture, and processing), Design and Human Computer Interaction (How modern designs are impacting usage of new technology), Pervasive / ubiquitous computing and social acceptance, Social computing/interactions (Understanding social processes towards digital technologies), as well as Security, privacy, and trust.”

Sodiya was accompanied at the press conference by the chair, publicity, Femi Williams, Deputy President, Dr. Muhammad Sirajo Aliyu, Chairperson, Credentials Committee, Mrs. Elizabeth Orogun and Executive Secretary, Mr. Iyiola Ayola to name a few.
