LASEMA discovers illegal oil bunker @Idimu - ITREALMS

ITREALMS ... making leadership SENSE with digital news!

The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), received a distress call via its Emergency toll-free line regarding illegal oil bunkering at the wooden bridge linking Idowu- Egba to Baruwa, Ipaja, on Sunday 28th, March 2021 and deployed its Emergency Responders at its Igando Office.

Confirming this development, the Director-General and chief, executive officer of LASEMA, Dr. Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, said that upon the arrival of the Dolphin Squad at the incident scene, it was discovered that about 30 sackbags neatly loaded with PMS were discovered floating on the Creek3 under the Wooden bridge.

The sacks of petrol were tied together and anchored on a wooden boat for transportation.

Further investigation revealed that the vandals fled on sighting security operatives in the early hours of Sunday, 28th March, 2021.

Fortunately no loss of life and no explosion, however, the security guard of the wooden bridge was shot in the leg with a local gun by a community guard during an altercation. The injured victim was rushed to the hospital for immediate medical care while the irate community guard was taken to the custody of the Police at Alagolo Police Station, Idimu.

Furthermore, the local gun used was discovered in the swamp after confessions by the community guard. Emergency Responders at the incident scene were LASEMA, Lagos State Neighbourhood Safety Corps, LNSC, Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps, NSCDC and the NPF.

The sacks of PMS were evacuated from the creek by the NSCDC Officials to be taken to Lagos State Headquarters of NSCDC. A cordon was thereafter established and massive public sensitization was carried out by the Agency's Responders to avoid any form of open flame in the neighborhood and to prevent an explosion or any form of fire outbreak till the evacuation was completed.

The Wooden Bridge was thereafter reopened for vehicular movements.
