Why Obiano imposed curfew on Aguleri-Umueri mayhem - ITREALMS

ITREALMS ... making leadership SENSE with digital news!

More facts may have began to emerge on the reasons behind imposition of curfew by the Anambra State Governor, Chief Willie Obiano in Aguleri, Umueri and Umuoba-Anam due to community conflict that erupted at the weekend, reports
ITREALMS.

The governor, ITREALMS gathered, imposed a three-day curfew following the mayhem that erupted in early hours of Saturday.

As said by Gov. Obiano, the curfew would last between 7pm to 7am daily.

A press statement from the Government House on Saturday, available to
ITREALMS, the curfew would be reviewed after the first three days.

ITREALMS also gathered that at least two persons were confirmed killed during the communal clash involving the two communities by Saturday noon, while buildings and vehicles were burnt.

As at the time of filing this report,
ITREALMS gathered, the joint Task Force Team (JTF), has taken over security in those communities to quell the situation.

Noteworthy is that there seems to be a political connotation over the recent clash between Aguleri and Umueri, as Gov. Obiano is from the Aguleri community, while Senator Emma Anosike hails from Umueri.

ITREALMS further gathered that the two sister communities have been on long ahead immediately after the civil war, thus, have been over decades.

This decade conflicts were reportedly doused following the reported take over of the land by the Anambra State government upon which the cargo airport is being built.

Political watchers, however said that the conflict may not be farfetched from the leadership of the Anambra East politically, purportedly between Gov. Obiano and Senator Anosike.
