A new traditional ruler of Alor community in Idemili South Local Council Area of Anambra State has emerged in the person of Evangelist Collins Ebele Chukwumesili, reports ITREALMS.

He was recently elected at Alor Town Hall and promptly crowned a new traditional ruler at the Uruezeani Village, Ifite-Alor; to be the custodian of culture and tradition of the community, in that order.

The decision to crown a new traditional ruler for the community was reached following a motion moved during a town hall meeting of the community held to appraise the activities of Alor Youth Vanguard towards the development of the community.

During the meeting, the President General Alor People’s Convention, Chief Uzoma Igbonwa was mandated by the people of Ifite quarter whose turn it is to produce the next traditional ruler with the death of their last monarch, Igwe Japhet Nkworka, and who were given mandate to conduct an election within ninety days to elect a new Igwe for the town and to present the Igwe elect as was conducted.

At this point, the President General called for the presentation of the Igwe elect and after screening according to the constitution of
the town, and before the Ozo title members, Ndi Idi Alor, and women of the community, declared Evangelist Chukwmesili as the igwe elect of the town.

The Igwe elect proceeded and collected the offor Alor from the Ezeofor of the community, after which he was crowned the substantive
traditional ruler of the community by the eldest Ozo title holder in their clan.

Speaking at the event, the Minister of Labour and Employment Senator Chris Ngige who is a chieftaincy title holder in the community said he was happy to vote during the election of the Igwe elect as a delegate, adding that the coronation of a new monarch will bring lasting peace to the community.

The new traditional ruler, Igwe Chukwumesili, appreciated his subjects for the confidence they reposed in him, and pledged to unite every member of the community with the help of God.

The traditional Prime Minister of the Community Chief Okwuchukwu Ezekwesili alongside other stakeholders had earlier during the meeting pointed out that the community did not send their suspended monarch to commit what they called abomination and desecretation of their
traditional stool and the government of Anambra state.

The event also featured presentation of Alor Zulukwe crown and staff of office to the new traditional ruler.
