President Zuma resigns, bows to party supremacy

ITREALMS:
President Jacob Zuma of South Africa has resigned his office with immediate effect, thus bowing to his party supremacy, reports ITRealms.

Zuma in a broadcast Wednesday to his country-men and women, monitored in Lagos by ITRealms on CNN, resigned after chronicling his acclaimed achievements in building the African National Congress (ANC) and South Africa.

ITRealms recalls that Mr. Zuma has been on a running battle with the party over alleged high-level corruption, but was given until Wednesday or face vote of no confidence in the parliament on Thursday, of which his party was warming up to lead and which may culminate in his impeachment according to the constitution of South Africa.

Zuma, 75-year-old will by this development hand over to his deputy president Cyril Ramaphosa, the newly elected ANC’s leader.


Former President Zuma came to power in 2009 after unseating Thabo Mbeki, and had been confronted with several allegations of corruption in recent times.
