Why EFCC arrested Innoson Motor chairman

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has confirmed the arrest of the founding chairman, Innoson Motors, Chief Innocent Chukwuma at his Enugu State residence, reports ITRealms.
According to reports, Chukwuma was arrested at about 11 am on Tuesday at his residence in Savage Crescent, GRA Enugu.
ITRealms gathered that Innoson Group in a tweet announcing the arrest accused EFCC officials of storming the residence and arresting Chukwuma “like a common criminal without any prior invitation”.
But EFCC was quick to deny the claim, maintianing that the Innoson chairman was arrested for failing to honour an earlier invitation and accused him of jumping bail.
A press statement by EFCC’s Head of Media and Publicity, Mr Wilson Uwujaren, read in part. “His arrest followed his refusal to honour invitation by the commission having earlier jumped an administrative bail granted him in a case being investigated by the Capital Market and Insurance Fraud Unit of the Commission’s Lagos office.”
The Commission alleged that “Chukwuma rather than honouring invitation by the EFCC, mobilised six truck-loads of thugs pretending to be staff of his company to his residence, where they manhandled EFCC operatives.”
Uwujaren disclosed that it took reinforcement from the Enugu office of the EFCC to arrest the industrialist.
Chukwuma, he said, “is currently being grilled by a team of investigators.”
