NCC outlines benefits of automated numbering system

The chief consultant to the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) on the proposed introduction of an automated numbering system in Nigeria, Mr. Paul Dinwoke, has outlined the benefits of the system to stakeholders, reports ITRealms.

Dinwoke who is the chief executive officer, Molcon Multiconcepts Limited, disclosed this in Lagos recently during a stakeholder consultative forum organized by the Commission.
According to him, some of the benefits include convenience, transparency, efficiency, easy tracking, and ability to choose number options.

He also pointed out that the introduction of an automated number system would strengthen the online payment systems currently existing in NCC and within its affiliate service offer.

In his remarks at the forum, the Executive Vice Chairman (EVC) and Chief Executive Officer of NCC, Prof. Umar Danbatta,  who was represented by the Executive Commissioner Technical Services, Ubale Maska, said that numbers are scarce resource and one of the core functions of the Commission is to ensure that this scarce resource is effectively and efficiently managed.

He also informed participants seeks their understanding, for this reason the forum was held, stressing that the automated system will be launched very soon by the Commission.


The Forum was attended by many stakeholders, including licensees of the Commission and staff, including Bako Wakil, Deputy Director Technical Standards and Network Integrity who told the audience that the deployment of automatic numbering management system is part of the NCC's efforts to automate her business processes within and outside the Commission.
