Aderounmu, NCS President gets honour for IT Professionalism in Africa

The President of the Nigeria Computer Society (NCS), Professor Sola Aderounmu has been honoured with a "Special Recognition Award: For Promoting Advancement of Information Technology Professionalism in Africa" reports ITRealms.

The award presented at the recently concluded Africa Information Technology and Telecom Awards held at the Kempinski Hotel Accra, Ghana, saw Professor Aderounmu receiving his prize from Ghana’s Chief Regulator and Director-General of the National Communications Authority (NCA), Mr. William Tevie.

Since taking over as President of NCS in July 2015, Aderounmu has placed emphasis on enhancing IT professionalism and building capacity within the IT profession and industry in Nigeria.

His emergence as the 13th National President of Nigeria Computer Society (NCS) at the last Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Society in July 2015 at Jojein Hotels & Resort, Akure - Ondo State, was well accepted.

He has led NCS, the acknowledged professional authority that facilitates the development of an inclusive, globally competitive and prosperous Nigeria, to achieve more relevance and impact as digital economy grows in Nigeria.


According to the Chairman, Conferences Committee, NCS, Jide Awe, Prof. Aderounmu’s approach has been to advocate the recognition and utilization of recognized IT professionals in IT projects addressing critical national issues to achieve sustainable development. He has heightened focus on Innovation and Research and Development in IT through prioritizing capacity building, employment generation, wealth creation and problem identification cum solving.
