PDP Dickson finally decks APC Sylva in Bayelsa governorship



The Bayelsa State governorship rerun election has finally berthed with the incumbent, Hon. Henry Dickson of the People Democratic Party (PDP) winning his main opponent, Chief Timipre Sylva of All Progressive Congress (APC) with some 62 per cent of total vote cast, reports ITRealms.

This win, ITRealms reports spurred jubilations across Bayelsa, just as PDP got a total of  11,567 of the 14,445 in the rerun votes, while APC have a mere 2,721 votes from the figures released last night.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in summary of the election, announced Gov. Dickson as the winner of the governorship election which commenced last December but was put on hold due to elections in the Southern Ijaw local government was marred by violence.

Meanwhile, a close observation of the voting pattern in Bayelsa State, further makes victory almost certain for  Hon. Seriake Dickson, who is set to break the  two - tenure jinx. 

ITRealms gathered that Governor Dickson swept votes in Amassoma, the home town of the state's  first elected governor, late DSP Alamieseigha, in addition to winning 95 per cent of Sagbama votes,  Ogbia and Yenagoa.

In a related development, over 14 deaths have been recorded in the re-run to the governorship election.
