Galaxy Backbone has impacted Nigerian economy – NCS president



The President, Nigeria Computer Society (NCS) Prof. Adesola Aderounmu, said that Galaxy Backbone (GBB) Limited has impacted Nigerian economy, craving GBB support for the National Information Technology Merit Awards (NITMA) reports ITRealms.

NITMA, he said, is the most important and recognized award ceremony in the IT community because the award is a recognition and reward for excellence in the industry.

Prof. Aderounmi made this known during a courtesy visit to Galaxy Backbone which the company has continued to make to its mark in internet penetration in the public service despite the harsh operating environment. 

“Galaxy has stood out and driven significant improvements in the Nigerian economy with world class offerings and standards. Your deployment and application of technology has been most fruitful and outstanding. NCS commends your efforts so far and urges you to do even more in the present digital gaps” he said.

Aderounmi also said that NCS is the nation’s foremost Information Technology network with membership strength of over 10,000 comprising of IT professionals, interest groups and stakeholders having footprints in business, government and academia. 

He listed NCS accomplishments to include the passage of Act No. 49 of 1993 establishing Computer Professionals Registration Council (CPN), the establishment of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) and the Ministry of Communication Technology. 

Even as these were achieved working with the Federal Government and other stakeholders, stressing that NCS is on the board of several national policy making, development and technology focused institutions such as NITDA, CPN and the Broadband Council.

Yusuf Kazaure, Managing Director/CEO of Galaxy Backbone Ltd commended the NCS leadership for reaching out for the support of industry stakeholders in the public sector. 

He re-emphasized Galaxy’s corporate philosophy of partnering with its stakeholders towards the achievement of its corporate objectives and national development.
