M-Net goes 24-hr with high definition mode

BEGINNING from April 1, Digital satellite television audiences who are High Definition (HD)-compliant in the continent would experience 24 hour of excitement on M-Net Africa HD channel on DStv channel 170.

Speaking on the launch, M-Net Africa Managing Director Biola Alabi said they are very pleased to be the very first HD channel to launch on DStv to audiences across East, West and Central Africa.

“High Definition television is the way of the future, and M-Net has worked hard to ensure that we are at the forefront of this new technological innovation. We will continue to look to the future and are confident that as technology develops, M-Net will continue to deliver the magic,” she said.

The channel which was launched recently is currently running 20 hours daily and is available only to DStv Premium subscribers who have an HD ready television and who access their DStv services through the technologically advanced HD PVR decoder.

In addition to providing access to the M-Net Africa HD channel, the cutting edge HD PVR decoder allows for even greater flexibility as it allows subscribers to view one channel and record two other channels at the same time, making sure you never miss any of your favourite DStv programmes.

With 150 hours of Standard Definition (SD) or 50 Hours of HD storage on its hard drive, the HD PVR also has even bigger recording capacity - meaning DStv subscribers can record more of their favourite programmes and watch when it is most convenient.

Remember also, customers who do not have the revolutionary HD PVR decoder will need to purchase it in order to receive and interpret the HD signals and access the M-NET AFRICA HD channel.

Combining hit international series and popular kids programming with blockbuster movies and must-watch specials, including some of music’s biggest stars in concert, M-Net Africa HD redefines television entertainment offering bolder colour, superior picture quality and an unforgettable viewing experience.

Among the series on offer on M-NET AFRICA HD are - Grey’s Anatomy, Royal Pains, House, Desperate Housewives, Fringe, DollHouse, Ugly Betty, The Good Wife, Flash Forward, Friday Night Lights and Raising the Bar.
