TiLAwards 2026 honours media, brand personalities shaping Nigeria’s digital economy - ITREALMS

The inaugural Technology, Innovation & Leadership Awards (TiLAwards) 2026, presented by Techeconomy, has recognised leading media and brand personalities whose work has advanced technology journalism, business communication, digital marketing, and public discourse surrounding Nigeria’s digital economy, reports ITREALMS.

The presentation took place during the GrowthX by Techeconomy conference in Lagos, held under the theme “Driving Digital Growth Through Innovation and Collaboration.” 

The ceremony brought together technology executives, innovators, policymakers, and media practitioners to celebrate excellence across the ecosystem.

Under the Media Excellence and Digital Brand & Marketing Excellence categories, TiLAwards honoured Chike Onwuegbuchi, Linda Ochugbua, Emma Okonji, Prince Osuagwu, Adeyemi Adepetun, and Louisa Olaniyi for their respective contributions to professional communication and industry engagement.

Chike Onwuegbuchi: The Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Nigeria CommunicationsWeek and Chairman of the Nigeria Information Technology Reporters Association (NITRA) was recognised for combining newsroom leadership with proactive industry engagement, creating critical platforms for stakeholders to debate cloud services, data localisation, fintech, and artificial intelligence.

Emma Okonji: Widely known as “The Cardinal of ICT Journalism,” the THISDAY ICT Editor and former NITRA Chairman was honoured for more than two decades of distinguished service in technology and business reporting.

Prince Osuagwu: The Technology Editor and Head of the Hi-Tech Desk at Vanguard Newspapers was recognised for over 25 years of editorial leadership, covering the intersection of technology, business, governance, and national development.

Adeyemi Adepetun: The Deputy Business Editor at The Guardian and award-winning journalist was honoured for over 13 years of leadership in covering telecommunications, digital transformation, and corporate governance.

Louisa Olaniyi: The award-winning broadcast journalist, WION News Nigerian correspondent, and prominent event compere was recognised for her two decades spanning print, broadcast, and digital media, as well as her advocacy for sustainable development goals.

Linda Ochugbua: The marketing and sales professional was honoured with the Digital Brand & Marketing Excellence Award for her work in digital transformation at BusinessDay, corporate communication, and entrepreneurial advocacy through platforms like The African SME Story.

Commenting on the awards, Peter Oluka, Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Techeconomy, emphasized that communication professionals play a vital role in translating complex technological developments into accessible insights for businesses, policymakers, and the public.

“Through TiLAwards, Techeconomy seeks to recognise people, platforms and institutions contributing to the development of Nigeria's technology and innovation ecosystem while creating opportunities for stronger connections across the industry,” Oluka stated.
