The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) has reaffirmed that the Nigerian Oil and Gas Park Scheme (NOGaPS), located in Emeyal-1, Ogbia Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, is on track to become fully operational by the fourth quarter of 2026, reports ITREALMS.
A centerpiece of the upcoming operational phase is the installation of a 2.5-megawatt Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) power plant. This facility is essential to ensuring a reliable, sustainable power supply for industrial operations. Complementing this, the Board has already finalized key power infrastructure, including the switchgear building, transformers, and heavy-duty power generating sets.
According to Mr. Olubisi Okunola, Manager of Strategy and Transformation Projects at NCDMB, several core facilities are now complete and ready for deployment.
These, he said, include "Manufacturing shop floors and modern classrooms; A fully functional water treatment plant; Well-equipped accommodation for trainers, facilitators, and visitors, including an amphitheater and residential apartments."
To further expand the park's industrial footprint, the NCDMB has awarded a contract for the sand-filling of existing ponds. Once reclaimed, this area will host six additional manufacturing sheds, providing dedicated space for prospective investors and service providers. Simultaneously, ongoing landscaping and routine facility maintenance ensure the park remains in peak condition ahead of its launch.
The NOGaPS initiative is designed to localize the manufacture of critical components and equipment, thereby reducing the industry's reliance on imports. By fostering an environment conducive to manufacturing, the project is projected to create employment for over 2,000 individuals while significantly stimulating local economic growth.
