Premier regional telecommunications and business forum, the West Africa Telecommunications Infrastructure Summit and Exhibition (WATISE), is set to interrogate the transformative power of Artificial Intelligence (AI) across infrastructure management and daily business operations, reports ITREALMS.

Known as WATISE 4.0 and Awards, the 2026 edition is hosted by TechnologyMirror, a leading tech and business news portal, and features the theme "The Resilient AI Fabric: Ensuring Trust, Integrity, and Sustainability in Next-Generation Network Infrastructure".

Scheduled for June 18, 2026, at the Lagos Oriental Hotel, the event will feature a keynote address by Dr. Aminu Maida, the Executive Vice Chairman of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC).

The summit has secured high-level endorsements from the Association of Licensed Telecommunications Companies of Nigeria (ALTON) and technical partnership from the local content advocacy group, ICTLOCA.

Leading industry voices expected to speak include Engr. Gbenga Adebayo, Chairman of ALTON; Mr. Tony Emokpere, President of ATCON; and Dr. Adebunmi Akinbo, Board Secretary of ICTLOCA.

Designed as a regional hub for operators, regulators, and startups to discuss trends that will leapfrog the digital economy, the 2026 agenda focuses on designing trustworthy 6G networks and defending against AI-specific attack vectors.

Furthermore, experts will explore leveraging AI for real-time fraud detection, anti-money laundering (AML), and robust Know-Your-Customer (KYC) processes within the fintech sector.

The summit also intends to address the deployment of AI to shield telecommunications assets from physical and cyber threats while evaluating the innovative impact of AI on ERP, HR, and Customer Experience (CX).
