The Executive Governor of Plateau State, Barr. Caleb Mutfwang, has reaffirmed his administration's commitment to making the state a leading digital hub in Nigeria through a deepened partnership with the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), reports ITREALMS.
Governor Mutfwang, who was joined by the Deputy Governor, Mrs. Josephine Piyo, described the NCC’s visit as both timely and essential.
Reflecting on his administration's "Budget of Consolidation and Sustainability," the Governor emphasized that 2026 must be the year where policy discussions transition into high-impact, practical solutions.
"Our focus must shift from dialogue to action, especially in harnessing the potential of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to drive development," Mutfwang stated.

He highlighted the state's ongoing collaboration with the UNDP to establish an innovation hub at Plateau State Polytechnic as a testament to this commitment.
The NCC delegation was led by Ms. Rimini Makama, Executive Commissioner for Stakeholder Management, who described the choice of Plateau for her first official courtesy visit as a recognition of the state's strategic importance.
Accompanied by Ms. Helen Obi, Director of Digital Economy, and Bar. Lawrence Abang, Deputy Director of Legal and Regulatory Services, the Commission’s leadership underscored several key initiatives:
Bridging the Digital Divide: Expanding connectivity to underserved rural communities across Plateau's 17 Local Government Areas.
Right-of-Way (RoW) Support: Streamlining the deployment of broadband infrastructure.
Universal Service Provision Fund (USPF): Leveraging national instruments to drive inclusive growth.
A major highlight of the discussion was the Governor's plan to establish a Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) initiative.

"Plateau State is at a moment of genuine possibility," she noted, assuring the Governor that the Commission would align its instruments with the state’s development priorities.
