He will be contesting under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections.

Ajagbe made the declaration during a press conference in Lagos on Thursday, signaling a major career transition from the press gallery to the legislative chamber.

With decades of experience as a media entrepreneur and political reporter in Lagos, Ajagbe stated that his aspiration is driven by persistent calls from his constituents, particularly the youth, who have witnessed his grassroots engagement firsthand.

"Having reported extensively on Lagos politics and the State House of Assembly for decades, I am well-versed in the legislative procedures, politics, and lawmaking processes," Ajagbe told journalists. "I have learned the ropes of legislation in Lagos State, and I am fully prepared to deliver effective representation without any gaps."

He framed his political ambition as a civic duty and an opportunity to give back to his community, leveraging his extensive background in media, communications, and public relations.

Ajagbe’s political roots in Lagos Island run deep. He previously contested a councillorship seat in Ward E3 of the Lagos Island East Local Council Development Area (LCDA) and later served as the Special Adviser on Media and Digital Communications to the Executive Chairman, Hon. Muibi Alade Folawiyo.

Beyond his advisory roles, Ajagbe has made significant contributions to the APC's political strategy and historical documentation in Lagos. His notable initiatives include:

The 2011 Lagos Island APC Almanac: A strategic publication used as a guide during primaries, profiling party leaders and ward executives across 10 wards.

The GAC Golden Frame: A curated portrait of leaders from the Governance Advisory Council (GAC), officially presented to the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. (Dr.) Mudashiru Ajayi Obasa.

The 80 Distinguished Female Political Office Holders Frame: Unveiled by Lagos State First Lady, Dr. (Mrs.) Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, this project highlighted women in governance from 1999 to the present.

"The Great Islanders" Platform: He serves as the sole administrator of this influential online forum, which brings together key political figures to discuss the development of Lagos State and Nigeria at large.

Ajagbe's declaration has already garnered significant endorsements from key APC figures in Lagos Island Constituency II. In a joint statement, Hon. Jide Damasio, Chairman of the APC Leadership Forum, and Hon. Ibrahim Ganiu, the newly elected APC Party Chairman for the constituency, expressed their full support.

"Ajagbe is undoubtedly a core party man—dedicated and loyal," the leaders stated. "His aspiration is a welcome development for our party and Lagos Island. It shows that Islanders are comfortable with the leadership style of the ruling APC and that our youth are motivated to work for the progress of our party."

They also commended him for consistently using his media platforms and journalistic influence to champion the APC's message and promote national development.

As the 2027 electoral cycle approaches, Ajagbe’s entry introduces a compelling dynamic to what is expected to be a highly competitive race in Lagos Island Constituency II.

His blend of journalistic influence, grassroots experience, and strong ties to the APC power structure positions him as a formidable aspirant. Political observers will be watching closely to see how the veteran publisher translates his media presence into a winning legislative ticket.
