The new licences, which became effective on January 1, 2026, ITREALMS gathered, have increased the total number of authorised ISPs in the country to 231, up from 225 recorded in December 2025.

The development comes at a critical juncture for the industry, as traditional ISPs face mounting pressure from dominant Mobile Network Operators (MNOs) and the rapid expansion of satellite-based internet services like Elon Musk's Starlink.

The newly six licensed firms, as confirmed by the Commission’s updated database, include Amazon Kuiper Nigeria Limited, Intellvision Technologies Limited, Fiber Sonic Limited, Dasol Solution Services Ltd, Boost ISP Limited, and Granet Technologies Limited.
