Renowned Information Technology (IT) thought leader, Chief Chris Uwaje, has called for the immortalisation of the late Olutayo Adeyemi, describing him as “a digital comet whose brilliance illuminated the path of technology-driven journalism in Nigeria.”
He proposed that the late digital journalist be immortalised through the establishment of the Olutayo Adeyemi Digital Journalism Excellence Award series, to inspire future generations of media innovators.
“First, we pray for Tayo’s gentle soul to rest in perfect peace. He came, he saw, and he conquered the digital landscape with incredible performance,” Uwaje wrote.
Describing Adeyemi as a “silent conqueror” and “achiever driven by inquisitive humility,” Uwaje highlighted his unique approach to journalism, one powered by curiosity, grace, and a disarming smile that drew out the best in his subjects.
“When approaching his ‘prey,’ Tayo would always launch an enviable catapult wrapped in unforgettable smiles. The positive venom produced by his smile extracted the best digital insights from his willing subjects,” he reflected.
Uwaje further noted that Adeyemi’s literary craftsmanship consistently offered readers “memorable digital knowledge that watered the Muse of our nation and Africa with sustainable development insights.”
He praised Adeyemi’s mastery of digital storytelling, describing him as “a special master of digital narratives who fired our collective consciousness to drive innovation at the speed of quantum computing.”
Uwaje concluded that the late journalist’s legacy must not fade, urging the media and IT communities to honour him through an enduring award platform that promotes excellence, research, and innovation in digital journalism.
“Tayo left behind a research-centric philosophy, a vision and mission-focused model for generations to emulate. He deserves to be immortalised through the establishment of the Olutayo Adeyemi Digital Journalism Excellence Award Series,” Uwaje asserted.
He remains a passionate advocate for indigenous software innovation and digital knowledge development across Africa.
