... Demobilise one armed hoodlum, recover two rifles, 4 vehicles
The Anambra Police-led Security Force has successfully contained a shooting incident that occurred in the early hours of Wednesday, July 9, 2025, at Oko and Ekwulobia flyover, in Aguata Local Government Area, reports ITREALMS.According to the State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga informed ITREALMS that the team demobilized one armed criminal, recovered two rifles, and four vehicles, including a red Toyota Camry, a custom-colored Mercedes Benz, a golden Lexus 330, and an ash Toyota Highlander.
During the incident, Ikenga said, the armed criminals indiscriminately shot under the Ekwulobia flyover, prompting a swift response from the Joint Security Team. Unfortunately, two unsuspecting members of the public were fatally injured, and a security vehicle was burned.
The bodies of the deceased have been recovered and deposited in the morgue. Meanwhile, the Oko Divisional Police Headquarters was also attacked, but the gallant officers on duty repelled the assault. The Joint Security Team continues to aggressively pursue the assailants in the area.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, has put in place adequate security measures to ensure the safety of residents. The public is urged to remain calm as efforts to restore peace continue.
ITREALMS gathered that the joint security team recovered some items including 1 AK-47 rifle, 1 automatic pump action gun, 4 vehicles namely Toyota Camry, Mercedes Benz, Lexus 330, and Toyota Highlander.
Fatalities, SP Ikenga said, include two unsuspecting members of the public, stressing that adequate security measures have been put in place, Joint Security Team continues to pursue assailants.
