A helicopter crash has occurred in California, United States of America (USA) killing the Group Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer (GMD/CEO) of Access Holdings, Dr. Herbert Onyewumbu Wigwe, his wife, Chizoba and their son reports ITREALMS.

The chairman, Nigerian Stock Exchange, Mr. Abimbola Ogunbanjo, also reportedly died in the same crash, according to earlier reports by Daily Trust, which reported that his wife and son were also in the helicopter that crashed in California, USA.

Sources close to the banking industry in Nigeria, Daily Trust informed, confirmed the development.

Additionally, ITREALMS gathered that the Chairman of NSE, Abimbola Ogunbanjo, was on the ill-fated flight with some six passengers leaving no survivor.

Also, ITREALMS gathered, that they were flying for Los Angeles to Vegas to watch the superbowl live.

The Super Bowl, ITREALMS equally gathered, is the annual league championship game of the National Football League (NFL) of the United States.

Until his death, Wigwe, 57, was a reputed Nigerian banker and entrepreneur; serving as the Group CEO of Access Holdings Plc, which traded as Access Corporation. He was the Group Managing Director/CEO of Access Bank Plc, one of Nigeria’s top five banking institutions, after succeeding his business partner, Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede, in January 2014 till April 2022.

He was married to Chizoba Wigwe (née Nwuba) and had 4 children: Chizi, Tochi, Hannah and David.

Late Herbert Wigwe hailed from Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State, but lives and works in Lagos.

At the time of going to press, ITREALMS is yet to confirm the names of the kids that died the crash.
