The Iyalode of Yorubaland, Iyalode Alaba Lawson has passionately called on South-West Governors on need to proactively rise up to security challenges confronting the region, noting that the recent attack on congregants at church in Owo, Ondo State, was an insult to God and a slap on the entire Yoruba race.
Iyalode of Yorubaland, Iyalode Alaba Lawson
Lawson made the appeal in reaction to the recent killing of worshippers at St Francis Catholic Church in the town, stressing that the sad incident should be seen as a wake up to all Odua sons and daughters, irrespective of their religions to be united.

While lamenting the gruesome murder of the congregants, and commiserating with the bereaved families and Ondo State Government, she declared that the alleged murderers have through their actions disrespected God.

Lawson added that the gunmen have stirred the bees nest, and have therefore murdered sleep, emphasizing that the government must leave no stone unturned and ensure the murderers are brought to book.

"With sombre reflections of the recent attack on innocent worshippers in a Church Service in Owo, Ondo State has shown disrespect not only to JEHOVAH God, our Creator but a slap on Yoruba race as a whole’, Lawson said.

‘I have seen it as a Wake-up Call to all ODU'A sons and daughters irrespective of our religions to unite together now more than before to defend our territories. In Unity Lies Strength. The attackers/murderers had stirred the BEES NEST and murdered sleep. Macbeth declared “They will sleep no more", Iyalode added

The women leader in the region in the same vein pointed out that, there was need for traditional rulers in the south-west, to come together with descendants of Odua men and women to stop blood shedding in the zone

‘There's need for our traditional rulers to come together with the support of all descendants of ODU'A, men, women, young and old to STOP the BLOODSHED, Kidnapping, Raping, Maiming etc now rampant in our region. It is Owo today, whose turn ? God forbids!!!’, she emphasised

‘On behalf of all Iyalodes and women of Yorubaland both at home and in Diaspora, I commiserate with His Excellency, the Governor of Ondo State, Arakunrin Akeredolu, his Executives, His Royal Majesty Oba Olowo of Owo, Iyalode of Owo and entire peaceful people of Ondo State on this uncalled for attack/provocation’.

‘The government must leave no stone unturned and ensure the murderers are brought to book. We all need to gird our loins especially women like Deborah of old to pray for PEACE to reign. The battle/attack on Yoruba Race is not ours but GOD's," Iyalode stressed.
