Anambra-born microbiologist, Prof. Ugochukwu Anieto, has invented an antibiotic drug which he named after his family as, 'Anietocin,' reports ITREALMS.

Prof. Anieto, ITREALMS gathered, lately has been making waves with his latest strides in medical microbiology as he discovered a new and world accepted antibiotics to treat drug resistant infections.

The drug known as 'Anietocin,' was named after his family name, Anieto.

Prof. Anieto is a native of Umunnachi in Dunukofia Local Government Area of Anambra State.

Born some 42 years ago, Prof. Anieto was raised in Onitsha, Anambra State where he also attended Dennis Memorial Grammar School (DMGS) Onitsha and Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UniZik) Awka; where he obtained a degree in Microbiology before leaving the shores of the country.

Ugoo as he is fondly called by close friends obtain his Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) in Molecular Biology from the University of North Texas and also Certificate Programme in Instructional Technology from Texas A&M University.

Prof. Anieto is a Texas-based renowned scientist and where he is an Instructional Assistant Professor, at the Texas A&M University.
