Amb. Jeanne Mujawamariya
The congress, ITREALMS gathered is to chart the way forward for a new funding model for Africa’s protected areas.
ITREALMS also gathered that the African Protected Areas Congress (APAC) will be held between March 7-12, under the aegis of the African Wildlife Foundation (AWF) and the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN).

Equally gathered by
ITREALMS is that the congress will be one of the first large in-person gatherings to be held on the continent post-COVID-19.

Affirming this at the weekend on the heels of a preparatory meeting, the Rwandan Minister for Environment Jeanne Mujawamariya, the country has put in place stringent health protocols to ensure the safety of visiting delegates.

Speaking, the Chief Executive Officer of AWF, Kaddu Sebunya said the continent has no option, but to look inwardly to fund her conservation instead of relying on the age-old methods of foreign donor-funded conservation.
