Power of words according to Fr. Ebido - ITREALMS

Lenten Sermon@ITREALMS ... making leadership SENSE with digital news!
Tuesday, First Week of Lent B (February 23/2021)

Your Daily BlessingMay the Almighty Abba, speak unto you words of life, love and peace today and always. Amen.

Read Isaiah 55:10-11; Matt 6:7-15; pray Psalm 34.

Narration: I have always marveled at the account of creation in Genesis. I marvel at the power of God’s words: “Let there be light, and there was light” (Gen 1:3b). The challenge of faith is to grow in our relationship with him to the point we can believe with childlike certitude that his words literally do what it says.

Ironically, we remain babies in the faith until we have that certitude. In my own journey of faith, in the early years of my encounter with the Lord, I can hardly point to any other thing that transformed my life except the power of his words.

Praying with the psalms (the Office), and particularly the ‘office of reading’ allowed me to listen to HIS WORD and allow it to dwell in me. After a while at this, the effect was incredible! The effect of God’s word in our lives is guaranteed if only we are patient enough.

Prayer is the key to every blessing. The words we use in prayer matters for several reasons: firstly, it reveals our heart and our inner disposition towards God (and towards our neighbor). Secondly, it honors God and edify the hearer, including the person saying it. So the words of our prayer builds us up in ways we may not fully understand. Listen to the words of our different Catholic devotionals and you’ll understand why they are transformative over time.

The “Our father” composed by the Lord reveal a simplicity and depth our prayers should aim at. Avoid rambling! Vocal prayer, meditation, or contemplation, are different forms, and stages of prayer. Whichever one you are familiar with, remember it is your channel of grace – to converse with God and to hear him speaks onto you words of power and life. If you have a good prayer regime, your words will possess the same power and give life to those who hear it. The kind of words that proceed from you reveals you.

PRAYER: Dear Lord, please help me to believe in your words. May I grow in prayer so that the union of mind, heart, and spirit may give birth to words that give life everywhere I go.
