One day walk by Fr. Ebido - ITREALMS

Lenten Sermon@ITREALMS ... making leadership SENSE with digital news!
Wednesday, First Week of Lent B (February 24/2021)

Your Daily BlessingMay God's love radiate in you today and everyday of your life. Amen.

Read Jonah 3:1-10; Lk 11:29-32; pray Ps 51.

Narration: The task of the prophet and the preacher is not an easy one. Thomas Merton once said that “The saint preaches sermons by the way he walks, the way he stands, and the way he sits down and the way he pick things up and holds them in his hands.”

Behavioral scientists now tell us that body language is more important in communication than what we say with our mouth; it reveals the truth value of the message.

It is not in doubt that Jonah’s preaching to the Ninevites was extraordinarily successful because man and beast responded to it.

What could he have said apart from proclaiming, “only forty days more and Nineveh is going to be destroyed”? The secret of his remarkable success must be somewhere in his ‘total communication.’

His body language must have said more to confirm his words in that one day walk through the town. Of course his experience at sea, running away from God, must have left their marks in how he communicated God’s message. Just as the prophets were called and sent by God, we are called and sent by Jesus Christ as disciples of his good news of salvation. Our body language should not betray the message our mouth delivers. Let’s radiate love in all we do, then sit back and watch the result.

PRAYER: Merciful Lord, I hardly remember that I am called and sent as your messenger, a disciple of love in the world. Help me to ‘communicate’ nothing else but that today.
