Nokia unveils nationwide rap contest to promote Asha phones

Nokia West Africa has unveiled a nationwide rap contest to promote its Asha mobile phones, just two weeks after its formal launch of Asha range.
The Communications Manager, Nokia West Africa, Mr. Osagie Ogunbor noted in a press statement made available to ITRealms Online.


According to him, the Nokia’s Asha range of phones contest is aimed at creating excitement among youths and rewarding them as well. Stressing that the freestyle rap competition tagged, “Nokia Don’t Break the Beat Competition.”
He said the contest would touch base at four cities, namely, the Lagos, Abuja, Enugu and Benin, adding that finalists would emerge in each centre to perform at the grand finale in Lagos.
The Solutions Marketing Manager, Nokia West Africa, Mr. Kesiena Ogbemi was quoted as saying that the initiative connects the youths to their passion.
Nokia Asha phones, he said, are messaging devices produced with full QWERTY keypad for quick and easy text input yet quite affordable, pointing out that Asha range is available at the very reasonable price of mobile phones, but imbued with the distinct features of smart phones.
Ogbemi disclosed  that  Asha  means  hope  and  Nokia see the next
generation  as  one  that  is  bound  to be connected beyond calls and text
messaging.
Also, he said, with the Asha range, Nokia is unveiling an ambition and not devices. He explained that the contest offers a platform developed to help young people connect to their dreams and reward them for their loyalty over the years.
For him, Nokia Asha 201 comes with fully integrated social networks to make consumers stay connected to friends and networks via Nimbuzz, Facebook and Twitter,.
“The Nokia Asha 303 has a touch screen and a qwerty key pad that gives consumers seamless user experience. The Asha 303 also has the widely hailed  Nokia  Browser,  which gives consumers faster and more cost effective web browsing experience,” he said.
