Dimension Data saves money with ‘Unified Communications’

Information Technology (IT) services and solutions provider, Dimension Data Nigeria has said that it saved Nigerian businesses huge sums of money with ‘Unified Communications’ from Microsoft.

General Manager, Microsoft Solutions at Dimension Data Nigeria, Mr. Jide Agbaje, made this disclosure last week in Lagos, while showcasing the Microsoft’s Unified Communications suite of solutions designed to innovatively converge various communications tools on one platform to enhance seamless communications.

He noted that Nigerian businesses often buy services like telephony, instant messaging, audio/video conferencing, teleconferencing, email, voicemail, web conferencing from a myriad of vendors and this could cause problems when it comes to integrating and synchronising these solutions not to mention the various cost elements involved.

With a unified communications, he said, all that are brought to a standstill by offering one platform that could run all these solutions allowing the customer to enjoy uninterrupted seamless communications.

He also said that the event was to enable customers get a deeper understanding of what the solution is really about.

“We’re talking about unified communications. It means that every means of communication that you have, from office chat, to video conferencing to calls and emails, everything can be combined to work seamlessly from one single and unified platform. What we have here is a solution that truly revolutionizes the modern business environment,” he said.

Agbaje described unified communications suite of services as the answer to the business community who have often decried the many issues faced when running various different communications platforms including problems like multiple vendor support centre and administrators, integration and interoperability problems, high cost of ownership and support, difficulty with deployment and upgrade pathways.

“Unified Communications, with one platform addresses these problems with particular emphasis on enabling substantial cost savings and increasing workforce productivity,” he said.

Several companies, he pointed out, from various sectors within the Nigerian economy have already deployed this solution with more rolling out over the next months.

He emphasised that Dimension Data is a Gold Certified Microsoft partner and recently won the award for the Best Unified Communications partner for Middle East and Africa.

According to the Marketing and Communications Manager, Mrs. Olayinka Edmond said that the event which featured a live demonstration of the service, included video and web conferencing with participants from Dimension Data offices in the United Kingdom, the Netherlands and South Africa in attendance to give support to the workshop.
