Anambra receives 110 VSAT, others from Galaxy

GALAXY Backbone (GB) Plc has delivered 110 Very Small Aperture Terminals (VSAT) to the Anambra State government, just as it has commenced deployment of access to some selected schools in the State.

This came as the agreement was recently signed with the State governor, Mr. Peter Obi.

Sources close to the Abuja-based Galaxy Backbone, informed ITRealms Online that the leading public sector Information and Communication Technology (ICT) infrastructure, has within five working days after the deal was signed mobilized all the equipment and requisite manpower to Awka, the state capital.

ITRealms Online recalled that the deal was to deploy internet connectivity and access to 110 secondary schools in the State.

Confirming this, the Corporate Executive, States, Education & Developmental Services, at Galaxy Backbone, Mr. Yusuf Kazaure, said during the official handover and public presentation of Anambra State School Connectivity Programme to the people of the state by Gov. Obi, said the company was proud to be associated with Anambra State Government under Peter Obi in its desire and passion to empower future generations of Anambrarians.

He also said that with the capacity to actualize their full potentials as global citizens in a globalized world, hence the decision to mobilized all the hardware and software, including human resources for the immediate deployment to priority sites.

“For the avoidance of doubt, the contract was signed a fortnight ago and equipment for the 110 secondary schools arrived on last Saturday,” he said, stressing that these equipment have been handed over to the State Commissioner of Education, Dr. Mrs. Kay Onyechi.

“… Our technical team is on standby to connect the first ten priority sites with five working days as soon as our site readiness criteria are met,” he assured.
Kazaure who also made presentation at the occasion, said Anambra State Government was the first State Government in Nigeria to contract over hundred educational sites.

“This is the beginning of a new era for students and teachers in Anambra State. They will enjoy internet services at a faster speed on a secured network. This will definitely create opportunity for them which they will explore for the benefit of this state,” he said.
