Onyiuke commends Progenics over Uyo floor

Director General of the Nigeria Stock Exchange (NSE), Dr. (Mrs) Ndi Okereke Onyiuke has commended the management of Progenics Corp Limited, an Information Technology (IT) integration company, for its contribution in ensuring the recent take off of the Akwa-Ibom exchange.

Speaking at the occasion, Dr. Onyiuke said that Progenics led by Mr. Tony Udoh, were the brain behind the technology integration of the exchange, thus deserves commendation.

The occasion, which marked the fourth time that the NSE launched its Automated Trading floor of the exchange outside Lagos, she said, has positioned Progenics as serious IT driven organisation with interest in developing Nigeria exchanges to be of global competitiveness.

Champion Infotel recalled that the other three include Ibadan, Abuja and Benin.

“Apart from the early period of automation when we had expatriates coming in to implement the IT platform, the Nigerian Stock Exchange has relied a hundred percent on the skills and expertise of an indigenous IT company, Progenics Corp limited, ably headed by Mr. Tony Udoh, for all the automation needs of the exchange” she said.

She noted that this came on the heels of recent awards to Progenics, a proof that this leading financial technology firm has confirmed Progenics as a power-house in the systems integration space in the country.

She pointed out that NSE has been partner Progenics since 1999 and has continued to play significant role in the achievement of full automation for the exchange.

Also commenting, the immediate past executive governor of the state, Obong Victor Attah, commended the efforts of the exchange in recognizing the need for the state to have a branch of the stock exchange.

He described the competence as remarkable speed and expertise exhibited by the Progenics’ team in making the dream of a fully automated floor of the Uyo exchange to be realized, stressing that the managing director of Progenics Corp limited, is a ‘son-of-the-soil’ due to the fact that Mr. Udoh, is an indigene of Akwa Ibom state.

In his remark at the occasion, Mr. Udoh stated that, though he felt elated by the eulogies on his firm, he is at the same time humbled by the fact that Progenics has proved beyond reasonable doubt that it has what it takes to be regarded as the leading light in software and systems integration for the financial services sector in the country.

“On behalf of the very hard working staff of Progenics, I want to express my appreciation for the way our efforts have been praised, and I can only say that it is a call for us to do more,” he said.
